DCL Medical Laboratories, established in 1984, is a full service regional laboratory that researches, markets and performs anatomic, clinical and molecular pathology testing for medical diagnostic applications. DCL also provides anatomic and molecular pathology services for global clinical trials in partnership with the world’s largest central laboratories and clinical research organizations.
DCL is a private company with principal equity holdings by Thompson Street Capital Partners in St. Louis.
DCL Milestones
1984 - DCL opens one of the first freestanding fine needle biopsy clinics in the country.
1994 - DCL creates the Division of Pharmaceutical Studies providing anatomic and molecular pathology services necessary for clinical trials of new drugs and technologies.
1997 - DCL introduces the ThinPrep® Pap Test™ to the Midwest.
1998 - DCL opens a satellite laboratory in Illinois serving the Greater St. Louis Region.
1999 - DCL becomes one of the first to offer HPV testing directly from the ThinPrep® vial.
2002 - DCL adds clinical pathology services, becoming a full-service medical laboratory. DCL is also the first laboratory in the Midwest region to offer Chlamydia and Gonorrhea testing directly from the ThinPrep® vial.
2003 - DCL becomes the first laboratory in the United States to successfully offer a DNA based Group B Strep prenatal test. DCL also begins offering Cystic Fibrosis DNA carrier screening for preconceptual and prenatal purposes.
2005 - DCL begins providing on-site phlebotomy and laboratory testing services to extended care facilities.
2009 - DCL introduces Reveal Cx™ - a breakthrough diagnostic test in risk assessment for cervical cancer. DCL Pathologists are among the first to use cell block technology to aid in Pap diagnosis. DCL becomes first in the Midwest to offer FDA-approved HPV 16/18 genotyping.
