DCL’s dynamic pathologists were purposefully selected for their professional reputation and interpersonal qualities. All DCL pathologists are board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology by the American Board of Pathology.
Carol Eisenhut, M.D., M.B.A.
Board Certified in Anatomic/Clinical Pathology;
Subspecialty: Cytopathology
Dr. Eisenhut has been a DCL pathologist for 20 years. Her expertise includes fine needle biopsy, breast, endometrial, cervical, prostate, urinary bladder and gyn cytology. She manages the pathology group and serves as the Vice President of Medical Operations and the Indianapolis Laboratory Director. Dr. Eisenhut’s ongoing practice also includes FDA trials for gyn pathology and breast.
Michael Glant, M.D.
Board Certified in Anatomic/Clinical Pathology;
Subspecialty: Cytopathology
A founder of DCL, Dr. Glant is a nationally known cytopathologist with pioneering and ongoing work in fine needle biopsy (especially head/neck and lymph nodes). Dr. Glant also has strong experience in gynecologic pathology (cytology and surgical pathology) with special experience in endometrium (changes with HRT, SERMs, and SPRMs in FDA clinical trials), video-based training, medical illustration and pathology informatics.
Cynthia Benedict, M.D.
Board Certified in Anatomic/Clinical Pathology;
Subspecialty: Cytopathology
Dr. Benedict has been a DCL pathologist for 11 years. Her expertise in cytopathology includes fine needle biopsy, urinary cytology and gynecologic cytology. Dr. Benedict’s expertise in surgical pathology includes cervical, endometrial, prostate and breast pathology. She also serves as DCL’s Fine Needle Biopsy Clinic leader and oversees aspects of its operation. In 2009, Dr. Benedict obtained a Certificate of Special Expertise in Ultrasound-guided FNA by participating in the first College of American Pathologists (CAP) certification program. Currently, fewer than 25 pathologists in the United States have earned this certificate. Her ongoing practice also includes FDA trials for gyn pathology, gastrointestinal pathology and other cytology applications.
Jennie Kho-Duffin, M.D.
Board Certified in Anatomic/Clinical Pathology;
Subspecialty: Cytopathology
A DCL pathologist for 8 years, Dr. Kho-Duffin’s expertise includes fine needle biopsy, gynecologic and nongynecologic cytology, skin, breast, endometrial, cervical, prostate, urinary bladder surgical pathology. Her ongoing practice also includes FDA trials for gynecologic, gastrointestinal, skin and pleural pathology. She is DCL’s primary clinical pathology laboratorian.
Christopher Murphy, M.D.
Board Certified in Anatomic/Clinical Pathology;
Subspecialty: Pediatric Pathology
A DCL pathologist for 9 years, Dr. Murphy is our primary hospital pathologist. He has developed his Gyn cytology expertise outside of fellowship training under the guidance of the Indianapolis staff and is proficient in all areas of gyn pathology, including paps, as well as GU and GI pathology. Dr. Murphy is also lab director of DCL’s St. Louis Region Laboratory.
Charles Ndah, M.D.
Board Certified in Anatomic/Clinical Pathology;
Subspecialty: Surgical Pathology
A DCL pathologist for 7 years, Dr. Ndah is our general surgical pathology expert in Indianapolis. He is also DCL’s primary genitourinary pathologist and lead for GI Pharmaceutical studies and has great interest in breast pathology/immunohistochemistry staining for prognostics/diagnostics.
Ashwini W. Pandit, M.D., F.I.A.C.
Board Certified in Anatomic/Clinical Pathology;
Subspecialty: Cytopathology
Dr. Pandit’s expertise includes gynecologic and non-gynecologic cytology, as well as breast, endometrial, cervical, prostate and urinary bladder surgical pathology. She comes to DCL after practicing in an academic/university setting for six years where her special interests included interpretation of medical renal biopsies.
Sally Slowman, M.D., F.A.C.P.
Board Certified in Anatomic/Clinical Pathology;
Subspecialty: Cytopathology, Internal Medicine, Rheumatology
Dr. Slowman has been a DCL pathologist for 14 years. Her expertise includes fine needle biopsy, breast, endometrial, cervical, prostate, urinary bladder surgical pathology and gyn cytology. Her ongoing practice also includes FDA trials for gyn pathology. Dr. Slowman has additional interest in clinical pathology. She served as interim Laboratory Director at South Bend Memorial Hospital in 2007-2008.
D. Ian Smith, M.D., Ph.D.
Board Certified in Anatomic/Clinical Pathology;
Subspecialty: Cytopathology
A DCL pathologist for 10 years, Dr. Smith’s expertise includes fine needle aspiration, surgical pathology of breast, endometrial, cervical and prostate disease, and gynecologic cytology. His ongoing practice also includes clinical research trials for gynecologic and breast pathology, and lymphoma. Dr. Smith has special interest in the procurement and interpretation of fine needle aspirations and is DCL’s in-house expert in immunohistochemistry and computer-based morphologic analysis.
